Home Improvements . . .

No, these aren't our home improvements, although I wish they were. We are doing some but I will wait to show pics until we are all done . . which hopefully will be sooner rather than later. :)
Anyways . . . my brother-in-law works construction building custom homes. He is going to be out of work for a month or so as they are in between jobs. He does pretty much anything with wood, he is very talented. Normally he frames homes, does all kinds of custom detail work, sets doors, window casings, door casings, baseboards, crown molding, patio covers etc.
I thought I would put this info out there just in case anyone was thinking of doing some home improvements or knows someone who is. If you are interested let me know and I will get you his name and number.

Thanksgiving 08

Rhett's first Thanksgiving.

He is actually a very happy child but I chose a bad time to take the picture. He REALLY wanted his bottle. He is a good little eater!


We had dinner with Randy's family and then headed over to my mom's for dessert. We got to see both sides of the family which was nice. And we got out of some evidently crazy games at Randy's house. Those Bryce's love their games and are the most competitive group of people I have ever seen.
We had an enjoyable day and of course, ate entirely too much food!

Sleepover

Wednesday night we had Randy's neice Sadie (4) and nephew Jake (7) spend the night. We made chocolate shakes, watched Polar Express and got little sleep! Well, at least I didn't get much sleep. They seemed to be sleeping just fine! At about 2:45am, they came climbing in bed with me and didn't just sleep in my bed but literally on top of me. They cuddled on each side of me and wrapped their legs over top of each other and me! I could not move and certainly not sleep! They were so adorable though I didn't mind.
In the morning Randy took them to the donut shop and then we got ready for our Thanksgiving festivities.

Santa Barbara Zoo

Since today was Veteran's Day and there was no school Randy's sisters took their kids to the zoo. Rhett and I tagged along. It was, obviously, his first trip to the zoo, not that he knew what was going on, but we had a fun day spending time with the Aunts and cousins. All the kids together.Me and Rhett. He looks thrilled doesn't he! :)

Road Trip to SLC

Randy and I love road trips! Unfortunately this one was not for a happy occasion but rather for Bev's funeral. We got the news that Bev passed late Monday night and Wednesday packed up our little family and headed to Salt Lake. As I mentioned, Randy and I love a good road trip. Randy LOVES to drive and I enjoy the time looking at the scenery, listening to music and talking. We have taken quite a few road trips together including driving cross country the summer before we got married. Well, this one was a little different as we had little Rhett in tow. He is definitely our kid (as if there was any doubt)! He was such a good road tripper!!! We planned as best we could around his bed time and nap times and it worked. He slept most of the way there and back! :) Here is our happy boy during the short time he was awake during the car ride.

I do not have many pictures from our trip yet. I am still waiting to get some from Randy's sisters but here are two. (I know, I need to be better about picture taking. I used to be so good. I think I just have too much to carry these days. Anyways . . .)

Since my sister Kylie lives in SLC we also got to see her. We went out to breakfast and did a little shopping.
Here is Randy and his Uncle Milt, Bev's husband. Bev and Milt were married 59 years!! Uncle Milt is the sweetest man ever!!! We are so sad that he is alone now. Good thing his kids and grandkids are close and will take good care of him. (sorry the picture is blurry!)

In Loving Memory

Beverly Jane Bohling "Nana" 1930 ~ 2008.

Randy's Aunt Bev passed away suddenly on November 3, 2008. Bev was like a second mom to Randy. His mom would take the kids up to Beverly's house in Salt Lake City, where they would spend weeks at a time sometimes even longer during the summer. Randy has so many wonderful childhood memories spent with his cousins at his Aunt Bev's house. She was a wonderful lady who loved everyone and took care of everyone. She always remembered each person's birthday and what they were up to. She had notes all over her house where she had written down information about everyone, things to remember, what they were up to. We found a post it, with Rhett's birth information and a note to buy him a baby gift. Her passing was sudden and hard for everyone but we are so glad that she did not suffer and that she is with our Heavenly Father, her parents, two sisters and a daughter that passed away at only 6 months old. What a wonderful reunion that must have been! You will be missed Bev!
