Sea World
We took a trip to San Diego for the day and met Lovios and Reeves at Sea World. Rhett loved the shows and looking at all the animals. He didn't like touching them though! My big tough boy!!! He loves playing with Sydney and they had a great time at the Sesame Street play area. It was great to get away and spend sometime together as a family and with friends.
Dream Truck
Randy had a Ford Ranger that he loved but we got rid of it when I was pregnant with Rhett so that he could fit a car seat. He wanted a full size truck but at the time gas was $4plus a gallon and so I talked him into a four door mini pick up. He got the Chevy Colorado. He thought it would be okay but after driving it for a short time reality set in and he was unhappy! It was just too small. Especially the bed. It came to be known as "the wheelbarrow" because the bed was so small it was pretty much good for nothing. Well, there is no better time to buy a car so we sold the Colorado, bought his dream truck and still came out ahead!! Can't beat that.

I am Thankful for . . .
A few years ago I was given the challenge of writing 100 things I am thankful for. I have continued the tradition each Thanksgiving. Each year I try to make it specific to the events of that year. It is a good time to look back and remember what has transpired that year and reflect. I started this list last week and added to it as things came to mind. With the events of this week I didn't quite finish. I am posting it anyway. It is kind of apropo of the way this year has gone anyway. So here it is . . .
I am thankful for . . . .
1. my husband
2. that my husband is handy
3. that he loves me and Rhett
4. Rhett
5. motherhood
6. all of our family – I get overwhelmed by ALL of them. It is a lot! But I have definitely adjusted to it, for the most part. I like it. I learn a lot. We are supported. I am very grateful!
7. Randy’s Job
8. My Job that allows me to stay home and make $
9. our home – projects and all
10. safety
11. transportation
12. America
13. freedom
14. the right to vote – even though it feels powerless at times.

66. a good discussion – I am a passionate person, I offend people when I don’t mean to. I don’t like that. But I love a good discussion with someone who stands up for their views and isn’t easily offended. Oh the thrill! Love it!

#11 Appendectomy
Randy had an emergency appendectomy Tuesday morning at 1:30am. He was in pain all day Sunday and Monday just thinking it was a stomach ache. He has quite a tolerance for pain! Monday evening at the suggestion of his Mom and Sister, he went to the ER to get checked. They confirmed he had appendicitis and he needed to have surgery right away! They removed his appendix laproscopically through his belly button. He is home now and doing much better!
This surgery makes a total of 11 between Randy and I since we have been married (6 1/2 years). Crazy! I had a series of procedures on a Vascular Malformation on my leg, which accounts for most of them, which we actually flew to Denver, Colorado for. Plus Randy's two ankle surgeries and now his appendectomy. This doesn't even count stitches, stem cell injections in Randy's ankle, child birth or Rhett's burns! The thing is we are generally healthy people with out a lot of colds, of the flu, allergies etc. But when we do something we do it BIG and it is generally abnormal. These aren't your run of the mill type of surgeries, even the appendectomy wasn't standard but I will spare you the gory details! I am just hoping that eventually we hit our quota and it isn't our turn anymore. I would like to be one of those people that hasn't been in a hospital for years! Not sure that is in my cards though, unfortunately. Oh well! There are much worse things!

yesterday's nap time
I am definitely not a singer. I do sing along with the radio and belt out songs in my car but only when I am alone because I do not have any false realities. I know I can not sing. However, since Rhett was a baby, on occasion I would sing him lullabies. I usually only do this when he has a hard time relaxing which isn't often. Rhett is a dream to put down for naps and bed usually. However, yesterday I put him down for a nap, knowing he was exhausted, and he just screamed! He continued for quite some time. I finally went in to calm him down and took his blanky that had just come out of the dryer. I held him, rocked him in my arms and started signing to him, a tender moment . . or so I thought. He looked up and immediately put his hand over my mouth and chuckled at himself! Seriosly! Even my own child doesn't like my signing. I thought he would be older when he started being embarrased by me and started not liking the things I did. Guess not.
Well, I put him back in his crib with his blanky and he never made another peep. He is definitely a blanket baby! He has always liked his blankies and had gravitated toward this one however if it wasn't available he would make do with another, not anymore! I tried to go buy an additional one before his gets too worn and he knows the difference but they don't carry them anymore. Of course! Plan B, head to the fabric store to see if I can make one. Although this does pose a challenge, to have him be so attached to a blanket I kind of like it. I was absolutely a blanket KID. Kid because I was 7 before I got rid of it, rather, it was gotten rid of for me by a family member who thought I was too old. It is still a debate in our family because no one will fess up to it. I was devastated! But just like me, Rhett is not allowed to take it anywhere. It remains only for sleeping in his crib and an occasional snuggle while watching cartoons with mom or dad.
And because every good post needs a picture . . .here is Rhett sleeping with his blanky! He doesn't always sleep like this (nor does he usually sleep in his diaper) but I went in to get him up and this is how I found him. He is quite the mover in his sleep!
